County Mayo has struggled to win an all-Ireland GAA football final for many years now. This piece reminded me of their struggle. Say no more!
This mosaic consists of slate, glass tile and filati. The slate is part of an old roof tile from a house with lots of history. Each piece is hand cut and embedded into a light substrate with a mortar. Red and green smalti and tile are added for effect.
The mosaic is embedded into a white deep box wooden frame.
